Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the impact of knowledge management on the organizational development in the Yemeni banks. To achieve the study objective, the analytic descriptive method was used. The study population consisted of 13 Yemeni banks with a total number of 1912 employees from which a sample of 314 employees was selected using a proportional stratified random sampling method. The data was collected using a questionnaire. The results of the study revealed that the Yemeni banks pay significant attention to achieving the organizational development of all dimensions, where ‘ technology’ was the most achieved dimension and ‘human resources’ was the least achieved dimension. The results also showed an interest of the Yemeni banks on the practice of knowledge management in all dimensions, where ‘knowledge implementation’ was the most achieved dimension and ‘knowledge transfer’ was the least achieved dimension. The results also revealed a disparity in the impact of all knowledge management dimensions on the organizational development, where ‘knowledge transfer’ was the most influential dimension; and ‘knowledge implementation’ was the least influential dimension. It was concluded that the Yemeni banks should exert more efforts for achieving the organizational development at all dimensions and promote their practice of knowledge management, especially in ‘knowledge transfer’ because it has a positive impact on achieving the organizational development.
