Abstract

This research aims at examining the shapes of slopes on both sides of Naqeel Sumara Road in the governorate of Ibb, and finding out their grades and directions, in addition to knowing the most important land uses of these slopes as well as their geomorphological risks. The descriptive and analytical approach was used to study and describe the slopes based on satellite images and geographic information systems. The most important relevant finding of the research is the prevalence of steep lands with severe spurs in most parts of the area, and the prevalence of slopes with a gradient of 18 degrees or more over 41.75% of the total area, and that most of the longitudinal extension of Naqeel Sumara falls within the category of highly dangerous areas. A second important finding of the current research is that the most important uses of slopes are for agriculture and housing construction, which are at risk of landslides.
