Abstract

The research aims to address linguistic phenomena in Al-Bayda dialect, describing these phenomena, identifying their uses in the modern and ancient Yemeni dialects, and trace them historically, if there is a use for them. The research concludes that the dialect uses the defining article (um) in the Qamaryia and Shamsia terms. It is most likely that the Arabs did not know these titles for their dialects in the pre-Islamic era, but rather every language was called in later ages, and this does not mean that it is foreign, and that the definition of (um) is pronounced. It has the eloquent, and the defining article (um) appears more common in use than other tools used in the ancient Yemeni languages, such as the letter Noun, and the letter Ha.
