Ethics of Publication

The Yemeni Journal of Agriculture and veterinary Sciences (YJAVS) strictly holds publication ethics as one of its core principles and policy significance and as such it adheres to internationally accepted ethical standards. Therefor; YJAVS adopts the COPE guidelines on publication ethics which are outlined as under: -

Authors responsibilities and duties
1. Submitted material/data are based on original research conducted by the authors themselves.
2. Manuscripts must be submitted with the understanding that they have not been published elsewhere (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture, review, or thesis) and are not currently under consideration by another journal or any other publisher.
3. Manuscripts must be submitted only in English or Arabic and should be written according to sound grammar and proper terminology.
4. It is also the authors' responsibility to ensure that the manuscripts emanating from a particular institution are submitted with the necessary approval of the institution.
5. All authors have agreed/approved the publication of this manuscript.
6. In general, the author should not publish papers presenting fundamentally the same study in more than one journal or primary publication.
7. The paper should contain sufficient detail and references to allow others to reproduce the work. Fraudulent or intentionally false claims represent unethical behavior and are not permissible.
8. The authors should ensure that they have written completely original works, and if the authors have used the works and/or the words of others, that they have been properly referenced or quoted.
9. Proper acknowledgement of the work of others must always be provided.
10. Any conflict of interest must be clearly stated.
11. The source of data used in manuscript or financial help rendered by any organization for conducting the research may be acknowledged.
12. All errors shortcomings in the manuscript after submission must be swiftly communicated to the Editorial office.
13. Detail of contribution of each author to research article being submitted must be given in a separate Table with his/her scanned signatures placed against each author’s name.
14. Authors should strictly follow the time frame/schedule given by the Editorial Office during review process, etc.

Reviewers responsibilities and duties
Reviewers are expected to evaluate a manuscript for critical and comparative analysis, and most importantly for integrity and novelty of research work keeping in view following principles: -
• Reviewers contribute to editorial decisions by validating a newly submitted author’s research to confirm its suitability for publication
• Reviewers should generally treat authors and their work as they would like to be treated themselves and observe good reviewing protocol/etiquette.
• Reviewers who feel unqualified to review the submitted manuscript or they are unable to a prompt review should notify the editor.
• Reviewers should not review the manuscripts in which they have found conflicts of interest with any of the authors, companies, or institutions.
• All manuscripts are reviewed impartially, fairly and remaining unbiased regardless of any kind of rivalry i.e. gender, race, ethnicity, religion, citizenry, political affiliation of author(s), etc.
• All information data in the manuscript are a personal property of authors. It must be kept confidential till it is finally processed.
• Reviewers should also identify relevant published work which the authors have not cited.
• Any information that may be the reason for rejection of manuscript must be communicated to the Editor in detail.
• The reviewers are morally bound to give impartial/unprejudiced observations and should upkeep the professional status.
• Reviewers are expected to follow time frame/schedule given by Editorial Office for vetting of article, etc.

Editors responsibilities
• The Editors of the journal should have the full authority to reject/accept a manuscript.
• The Editors of the journal should preserve the anonymity of reviewers.
• The Editors of the journal should be willing to investigate plagiarism and fraudulent data issues and to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when needed.
• The editor and the Journal do not discriminate on the basis of age, colour, religion, creed, disability, marital status, veteran status, national origin, race, gender, genetic predisposition or carrier status, or sexual orientation in its publishing programs, services and activities.
• Information pertaining to manuscripts is kept confidential till it is published. Also reviewers as well as authors identity must be kept secret, maintaining blind review policy.
• Any observed conflict of interest pertaining to manuscript must be disclosed to the author as well as to reviewer.
• Editorial Board takes responsibility for making decisions for submitted manuscripts based on the reviewer’s evaluation, policies of Editorial Board and legal restrain acting against plagiarism, libel and copyright infringement.
• If the journal editors suspects a referee during the reviewing process, it will act according to COPE guidelines.
• If the journal editors recognize potential manipulation of the peer review process, the journal or publisher will act according to COPE guidelines.
