Assisting the Developed Biology Curriculum for the second grade of Secondary School in the Republic of Yemen

Abstract

The study aims to assist the Developed Biology Curriculum for the Second Grade of Secondary School ( DBCSGSS) by answering the study questions. The study was limited to the ( DBCSGSS)  in the Republic of Yemen for the year 2004/2005 AD, and teachers of Biology for the second grade of secondary school who are educationally qualified, and employees of Amana School Capital. The researcher has used the questionnaire prepared by Aziz (2004), and the study has confirmed that the inclusion of evaluation criteria in the biology curriculum for the second secondary grade scientific of the criteria used was appropriate to some extent as seen by teachers. This indicates that the curriculum includes positive aspects, and that the weaknesses in it are limited , which indicates the great efforts that have been made to build the developed curricula, but the absence of any of the assessment standards at a high level means that there is a need to review and develop these standards when reviewing and developing the curriculum. There was an existence of statistically significant differences between the teachers’ and female teachers’ point of view.  Regarding the availability of standards in the field of curriculum content and evaluation for the benefit of female teachers, and there are clear differences between the teachers’ and female teachers’ views in the arithmetic.  It was in favor of female teachers about the availability of curriculum standards in the areas as a whole and the field of methods, activities and means. However, there were no clear and statistically significant differences between the views of the study sample members on the availability of standards in the field of objectives.
