Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the opportunities and challenges of using artificial intelligence applications to develop the teaching skills of faculty members in engineering colleges at Yemeni universities. The researchers used a descriptive-analytical approach, and the study used a questionnaire. The study population consisted of faculty members working in engineering colleges at Yemeni universities operating in Ibb governorate, and a random sample of 28 faculty members was selected. In light of the statistical analysis of the results, the study reached a number of conclusions, including: There are opportunities for the use of artificial intelligence in developing teaching skills among faculty members in engineering colleges at Yemeni universities, represented by aspects of analysis, evaluation, communication with students, and involving students in the educational process. The study also found that there are a number of challenges facing the use of these applications, the most important of which are: Challenges of the technical infrastructure and technical support, which means the lack of provision of the requirements for using artificial intelligence applications in the educational process, whether related to laboratories, the Internet, references, technical support, and the provision of other educational media. Weak training of human resources and cognitive issues related to the weakness of the reliability of the performance of artificial intelligence applications. In light of this, the researchers recommended a number of recommendations.
