Legal procedures in addressing cyber terrorism crimes

This study aims to clarify the concept of cyber terrorism, elucidate the legal procedures preceding the occurrence of cyber terrorism crimes, and outline the legal procedures following such crimes. To achieve these objectives, the descriptive methodology was adopted to analyze and interpret legal texts, judicial rulings, and jurisprudential opinions relevant to the study's subject. The study consists of an introduction and two sections. The introduction discusses the concept of cyber terrorism and some related concepts. The first section addresses the legal procedures prior to combating cyber terrorism. The second section focuses on the legal procedures subsequent to combating cyber terrorism. The study findings indicate that there is no consensus among scholars on the definition of terrorism, with some broadening its scope and others narrowing it. Relevant authorities have taken a range of preemptive measures to prevent such crimes, including issuing numerous regulations and statutes to combat terrorism in all its forms, participating in regional and international agreements on counterterrorism, and establishing specialized bodies, centers, and committees for this purpose.
