A Geographical Analysis of the Spatial and Demographic Variation in Population Characteristics in the Al-Baha Region (2010–2022)

This study analyzed demographic shifts in the Al-Baha region of Saudi Arabia between 2010 and 2022, focusing on spatial distribution and variations in age, gender, and marital status. Using a descriptive-analytical approach supported by statistical data, tables, and cartographic mapping, the research revealed notable declines in population size -from 412,520 in 2010 to 339,174 in 2022- alongside significant spatial disparities across governorates. Al-Mandaq experienced the sharpest decline, with a -58% change, while the proportion of Saudi nationals decreased region-wide and non-Saudi residents increased, particularly concentrated in Al-Baha Governorate. Gender ratios among Saudis remained balanced, but non-Saudi populations were overwhelmingly male. The findings highlight a trend of spatial de-concentration among Saudis versus concentration among non-Saudis, with Al-Baha Governorate consistently maintaining demographic dominance in both Saudi and non-Saudi populations throughout the study period.Downloads
