Abstract

This study aimed to specify the effect of teaching physics in the light of concept maps strategy on developing both the academic achievement and attitudes among first-year secondary students. The study used the experimental approach and the random sample consisting of (60) first year secondary students at Rufaida School, Khamis Mushait Educational department. The students were divided into two groups. Each group consists of 30 students, one of the two groups represents the experimental group and the other is the control one. To achieve the study goals and answer its questions, the researcher prepared an achievement test for "Measurement - Movement Representation - Accelerated Movement", consisting of (12) multiple choice questions. The researcher also prepared a scale to measure the students’ attitudes towards physics course system, the "joint program". The scale consists of (30) phrases. The study found that teaching physics using concepts maps strategy has great effect on developing the achievement and attitudes of first year secondary students.
