Phonetic Phenomena in the tone of Tehama Dialect (BeitAlfaqih as a model)

The purpose of this study is to monitor the phonetics phenomena in the spoken dialect and to compare them with their classical Arabic counterparts, then to reveal the positions of dialectical deviations. The study is based on the defined area: the city of BeitAlfaqih - the city of the researcher- and its surroundings in the governorate of Hodeidah, located on the west coast of the Republic of Yemen, where the tone in this region is characterized in retaining of many phonetic phenomena stipulated by the ancient scholars in their books. The researcher has chosen some of these phenomena like,Alananaẗ, Alʿanʿanaẗ, Alṭamṭamanyaẗ, Alimalaẗand contraction. In this study, the researcher followed the descriptive analytical method. In addition, he collected data through interview with some local citizens as he is also a native person of Tihama.Downloads
