Ibn Al-Imad’s Poetic Treatise Maunscript on Reconciling Conflicting Texts: A Critical Inspective Review Study

This article presents a critical review inspection examination of the poetic treatise Tarjih Al-Nas itha Zuhima bi-Mithlih (Reconciling Conflicting Texts) by the eminent scholar Hosam Al-Din Moḥammed ibn ʿAbdulrahman ibn Al-Khidhr ibn Mohammed Ibn Al-Imad Al-Misri Al-Ghazzi Al-Dimashqi Al-Hanafi (d. 874 AH). The manuscript's significance lies in its treatment of textual reconciliation in juristic conflict - a pivotal subject in Islamic jurisprudence, further elevated by its connection to the principles of jurisprudence, specifically the chapter on "Contradiction and Reconciliation" extensively addressed by legal theorists. The study aims to produce an authoritative inspection review reflecting the author's intent, examine the author's biography, and authenticate the manuscript's attribution. Key findings reveal that the manuscript comprises an elegant poetic composition addressing textual reconciliation during juristic conflict. The critical inspective review confirms this as a unique manuscript with no extant copies. The document is the original autograph, penned during the author's lifetime, as evidenced by marginal additions and annotations recording his children's birth dates. Qadhi Hosam Al-Din Ibn Al-Imad did not compile these juristic principles.
