Abstract

This study investigated the levels of fear of loss, social media addiction, and mindfulness among King Khalid University students, and examined the extent to which mindfulness can be predicted by fear of loss and social media addiction. Using a descriptive analytical approach, data were collected from a randomly selected sample of 551 male and female undergraduates across scientific and literary disciplines. Standardized scales-including the Fear of Loss Scale (Przybylski et al., 2013; Arabic translation by Abdul Razzaq, Sulaiman, and Talab, 2021), the Social Media Addiction Scale (Al Barashdi and Al Dhafri, 2020), and the Mindfulness Scale (Abdul Ghani, Al Amri, and Al Fifi, 2023)-were administered. Results revealed that students demonstrated average levels of fear of loss, social media addiction, and mindfulness, and confirmed that mindfulness can indeed be predicted through these two variables. Based on these findings, the study presented several recommendations and proposals to guide future research and practice.
