The Role of the Knowledge Economy in Developing Human Capacities at Saudi Universities from the Perspective of Faculty Members

This research investigated the role of the knowledge economy in enhancing human capabilities within Saudi universities, examining its challenges and the extent to which its requirements are met from the perspective of faculty members. Employing a descriptive survey design and a questionnaire administered to 264 faculty members, the study found that the knowledge economy plays a highly significant role in capacity development, while the challenges it faces are moderate. The requirements for activating this role were rated highly overall, with organizational needs ranked first, human needs second, and material needs last. Based on these findings, the study recommended that Saudi universities diversify funding sources, facilitate the completion of scientific projects, and design training programs that enable faculty to transform acquired knowledge into practical applications that benefit the academic work environment.Downloads
