Abstract

The aim of the current research is to identify the level of identity crisis among male and female students at King Khalid University in Abha, and to identify the differences in their identity crisis, according to gender, specialization, academic level, parental status, and economic level. The sample of the research consisted of (363) male and female students from the various colleges of King Khalid University (scientific and theoretical) ranging in age from (19-33) years, with an average age of (22.85) years, and a standard deviation of (2.26) years. The identity crisis scale consists of (68) phrases distributed in four areas: the political and religious field (18 words), the field of academic and professional commitment (15 words), the cultural field (14 words), and finally the field of the deformed (negative) self and includes (21 words). To analyze the research results, the Alpha Cronbach equation and the Spearman Brown equation were used to correct the length of the mid-hash. The mean and the standard deviation for determining the level of variables among the individuals of the sample, testing (T) for one sample to indicate the differences between the hypothetical mean and the average degrees of the sample on the scale of the identity crisis, and the test (T) for independent samples to indicate the differences in the identity crisis for type and specialization, as well as a test of mono-variance analysis was used (One Way Anova) to get acquainted with the statistical differences according to the variable of the parental status and the educational and economic level, and a written test of the direction of the differences of statistical significance. The results of the research resulted in: There is an average level of identity crisis among male and female students at King Khalid University in Abha, and there are no differences in the identity crisis among the research sample according to gender and specialization, and there are differences in the identity crisis in the research sample according to the academic level, the parents ’status, and the level Economic. The research came out with a set of recommendations and proposed research.
