Abstract

The research aims to prepare a treatment program based on the theoretical foundations and applied techniques of meaning therapy, and to identify its effectiveness in reducing the degree of social phobia and developing the positive meaning of life among a sample of young people. It tries to prepare a multidimensional measure on the meaning of life for young people, from our Arab environment, as appropriate to our culture, and identifying the psychometric properties of the scale in terms of its validity and stability.   It also identifies the extent of continuity of meaning therapy in reducing the degree of social phobia and developing a positive meaning of life among the sample after application of the program. The sample consisted of (400) first-level students, Faculty of Education, Ain Shamsun University for the academic year (2009-2010 AD). Then (24) male and female students were selected from the survey sample who had a high sense of social phobia, and a low sense of the meaning of life. The final sample was divided into two groups, experimental (12) (7 females and 5 males), control (12) (7 females and 5 males). The research used the measure of the meaning of life among young people prepared by the researcher (2010). The research has concluded that meaning therapy contributed to modifying the behavior of the members of the experimental group by developing awareness of the meaning of life and the unique tasks that each individual must achieve.
