Abstract

The research attempts to trace the verbal alternation of the past tense through similar verses in the Holy Qur'an, where a word can replace each other in two similar contexts. For this reason, the researcher has decided to stand on the semantic dimension arising from the different expressions, and to know the appropriateness for each term as possible. The research begins with an introduction and four parts. The research concludes that the verbal alternation in the past verbs mentioned in the similar verses did not come out of synonymy, but rather each word in the Qur’anic usage has its own significance, which distinguishes it in use from others, so the meaning is not complete without it.
