Symbolism of color in the story (In the Waiting Lounge) for Saudi narrator Seham Arishi

Abstract

This research seeks to study the symbolism of color in the story 'In the Waiting Lounge' of the Saudi storyteller Siham Arishi, considering the symbolism of color as one of the most important elements of the story and its techniques of connotation, touching on the most prominent colors used in the story in its space; features of other characters and their shades. The research was divided into a preamble and two searches. The preamble presents the being of symbolism and its importance in texts' meanings and the colors' symbolism and functions. The first search explores the colors' indication in the studied story. The second search discusses the 'paintings' that were formed within the framework of this story, and its contributions in drawing the features of the central characters and the sub-characters such as, the Brother, the Airport Security Guard, the Doctor, the Nurse, etc".
