This research investigates the political and commercial connections between the ancient Yemeni kingdoms and East Africa as recorded in the Periplus of the Erythraean Sea. Structured with an introduction, a preface, and two main sections, it begins by tracing the origins of these ties, summarizing the Periplus, and presenting information about its author. The first section examines political relations, while the second focuses on trade, supported by an appendix listing exchanged goods. Methodologically, the study applies the historical approach, using inductive analysis of the Book of the Pilgrimage and comparing its accounts with contemporaneous sources such as Strabo, Pliny, and Ptolemy to reconstruct shifts in political and economic dynamics. The findings confirm the enduring presence of southern Arabians in East Africa during the early centuries AD and highlight the deep-rooted trade relations between the two regions.Downloads
