Level of Environmental Awareness among Geography Students at Qassim University: A Spatial Statistical Analysis using Geographic Information Systems

This study examined the level of environmental awareness among geography students at Qassim University and the influence of demographic, geographic, and academic factors on shaping it, using GIS-based spatial statistical analysis and a descriptive-analytical approach. A stratified random sample of 335 students from a population of 600 participated during the academic year 1447 AH, responding to a 25-item questionnaire covering environmental knowledge, behavior, and emotional awareness. The instrument proved reliable, with Cronbach’s alpha at 0.885 and KMO at 0.870. Results revealed a high overall awareness level (mean score 2.51), with emotional awareness ranking highest, followed by knowledge, while behavior ranked lowest. Spatial and demographic variations were identified, and GIS analysis helped explain these differences, offering insights for educational and environmental planning aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.Downloads
