The Unique Magnificence of Quranic Breaks in Surah Al-Muddaththir: A Study of Rhythmic Patterns

Research Objectives: This study aims to reflect the rhythmic beauty and distinctive harmony in the Qur'anic text, through the breaks of Al-Muddaththir, the Makiyyat Surah, and the strong rhythms in its separations such as the verses end with/r/ sound as in ﴿ٱلْمُدَّثِّرُ- سَقَرٌ - النَّاقُورِ- عَسِيرٌ﴾(al- Muddathir [who covers himself]; Saqar [hellfire]; A’sir [difficult]; al-Naqour [trumpet]), etc. In the same way, the rhythmic patterns of/da/ sound as in﴿وَحِيدًا- مَمْدُودًا- شُهُودًا- تَمْهِيدًا- أَزِيدَ- عَنِيدًا﴾(wahida [alone]; Mumdouda [extensive]; Shuhouda [witnesses]; Azida [add more]; Anida [stubborn]), etc. Many more rhythmic patterns stated in the holy surah are graded from weak to medium to strong power of rhythms. All rhythmic patterns are connected to meanings and issues addressed by the Quran, and this miraculous Quranic greatness is not hidden for experts of rhetoric and linguistics. Research Contents, this research consists of introduction which deals with the research objectives, significance of the study and methodology. The first topic covers the magnificence of the Holy Quran. It includes three subtopics: - The definition of the Quranic breaks (commas) and the language. - The function of the break [interval] in context and its importance in phonic system. - The difference between the comma and the consonance [rhyme]. The second topic: semantic and rhythmic study of the breaks (intervals) of Surah Al-Muddaththir. It includes two subtopics: - Definition of Al-Muddaththir. - The rhythmic consistency in the breaks (intervals) of Surah Al-Muddaththir and its connection to the meaning. Conclusion includes the most important findings and recommendations.Downloads
