Exploring the patterns of 'Virility' and 'Power' in Amr Ibn Kalthoum’s Famous poem (Muallaqah)

Abstract

This study attempts to explore the aspects of virility and power patterns in the Suspended Ode (Muallaqah) of Amr Ibn Kalthoum. The research is based on the features of poetic formation and its creatively supporting characteristics that have contributed to the formation of these patterns in a way that makes the poem under investigation a poetic text that draws on the culture of patterning-based model. This poetic text is also made open to a system of positive or negative human values. It is also reinforced by evidence of social and cultural relations as well as symbolic indicators. This analysis mode goes beyond explicit expression in poetry and establishes a new type of awareness in studying this famous poem and its text using modern methodological mechanisms. Such desired mechanisms will seek to address the dominant problem expressed in the following question: “What are the virility and power patterns in the famous poem “muallaqah” of Amr ibn Kalthoum? What are the semantic and cultural values derived from the dominance of these patterns in thepoem?”
