The research tends to identify the role of the Internet in developing the cognitive aspects and supporting the research performance of female students in the College of Education at King Saud University. Understanding the current situation can contribute to addressing obstacles and difficulties in order to contribute in raising the quality of education. To achieve this goal, the descriptive approach was used to describe and analyze the data of the study in the light of the information available in a questionnaire that covered eight main axes. The study population consists of (5281) female students from the same college, of eight departments. Six departments were selected; educational computer, Islamic studies, psychology, special education, kindergarten, and art education, for the second semester of the academic year 2009/2010 AD. A random sample representing each department was selected at a percentage of (3%), as the questionnaire was distributed to (160) female students, and (150) questionnaires were received after being completely filled out from the sample. One of the most important results was knowing the number of hours spent by members of the sample in using the Internet for research, which is 1-3 hours per day in browsing educational websites, as well as books, magazines, electronic newspapers and scientific theses. The majority of the sample has confirmed that the most important reasons for using the Internet is the speed of obtaining information, whether cognitive or general.
