The Impact of the Environmental Education course on the Development of Environmental Enlightenment among the Students of the Faculty of Education- Hodeidah

The research aims to investigate the extent of the development of the environmental education course for the general level of environmental enlightenment among the students of the Faculty of Education-Hodeidah, and the adequacy of the course and its impact on the development of environmental enlightenment. For the academic year 2004/2005 AD in various departments, after excluding from the research sample students who did not attend course lectures, and incomplete data of the processes of the pre and post application of their environmental enlightenment scale, and the proportion of the research sample is (67%) of fourth-level students - Faculty of Education-Hodeidah. The research has found the growth of the general level of environmental enlightenment for students from low to medium level after studying the environmental education course. And the failure of the study and teaching of the course to achieve the required level of competence (75% of the total score of the scale) in the development of environmental culture among (72%) of the research sample. There is a statistically significant difference at the level (0.05) between the average degrees of environmental enlightenment for students in different groups (college, first, second) in the pre and post application, in favor of the post application. There is a statistically significant difference at the level (0.05) between the average degrees of environmental enlightenment for the first group of students (post application), and the second group (pre application), and in favor of the degrees of the first group students (post application), and there are no statistically significant differences between the average degrees of environmental enlightenment For first and second group students in both the pre and post application.
