Abstract

This study was carried out at Rasaba station in Dhamar, Yemen affiliated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, 85 km south of the capital, Sana'a. The study aims to find out the effect of udder morphological characteristics on milking speed and daily milk production for (105) Friesian cows with different production cycle sequences. The study has found that the general average of udder circumference and height were 111.96 and 61.69 cm, respectively, and the effect of the production cycle sequence on them was significant (P < 0.01). Both of them were also affected by udder sponges (P < 0.01), and it was found that the general average length of the anterior and posterior nipples was 6.0 and 5.41 cm, respectively. Both of them were affected by the production cycle sequence and udder sponges, respectively (A < 0.01). It was found that the general average daily milk production amounted to 20.54 kg; the highest daily average was found in cows with spongy udders and those in their fourth production cycle (a < 0.01). The general average of milk velocity was 1.72 kg/min. The production cycle sequence and udder sponges showed a high significant effect.
