Abstract

The study aims to investigate the impact of open book exams on the learning habits of university students. Data were collected from (408) male and female students from the Faculty of Education at Taiz University. Students belong to the Departments of Chemistry, Biology and English. The study tool was a questionnaire that was used to determine whether students prefer open book exams and to find out the reasons for that preference. The results have showed that a large percentage of the participants preferred the open book exams, although they are used to the closed book exams. Students believe that open book exams take less time to prepare. The study also has showed the role that open book exams can play in changing students' learning attitudes, as well as making the learning process more effective.
