Investing collective consciousness in the sustainability of preservation of historical cities A suggested comprehensive vision for the old city of Sana'a - Yemen

Since 2011, Yemen has been suffering from political and economic problems that have affected the historical city of Sana'a, where the level of its preservation has deteriorated by government and international agencies, and the weakness of collective consciousness has worsened in realizing its archaeological and historical value and dealing with its civilized heritage with neglect that threatens the city's architectural character and urban fabric. Because of the missile strikes that affected parts of it after the war in 2015, it was included in the list of "endangered sites", and it became important to search for other solutions that open alternative horizons that are effective in preserving it in the face of its deteriorating conditions in peace and war, and the weakness of the official availability to preserve it. this research aims to present one of these alternative solutions represented in investing the collective consciousness of the city's residents in preserving it through three axes: the first is building a conceptual framework for the terminology used. The second is to provide conservation laws, an analysis of the city's current situation and the obstacles to preservation, and the third is to formulate a comprehensive and sustainable vision for preserving the city in periods of peace and war. The research has reached results that contribute to the sustainability of preserving the historical city of Sana'a and finding effective solutions to restore its historical status as a source of prosperity for its residents and for Yemen.
