Requirements for Developing the Preparation of General Education Teachers in the Republic of Yemen in Light of Artificial Intelligence Trends

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the requirements for developing the preparation of general education teachers in the Republic of Yemen in light of artificial intelligence trends, from the perspective of faculty members at the College of Education - Sana'a University. The study adopted a descriptive methodology. The instrument used was a questionnaire consisting of (44) items, which was distributed electronically to a sample of (66) individuals. The study results showed that all requirements received a high level of importance. In terms of dimensions, teaching methods requirements ranked first with a very high level of importance, followed by requirements related to preparation programs and practical education, then assessment process requirements, and finally admission policy requirements, all with a high level of importance. The study also revealed no statistically significant differences at a significance level of (œ < 0.05) between the mean responses of the sample individuals attributed to the variables of academic degree and years of service. However, differences were found based on the variable of gender, favoring females. Based on the results, the study provided several recommendations, including the necessity of adopting the necessary programs to train and qualify faculty members in education colleges to implement artificial intelligence trends in education. It also recommended reviewing and developing the curriculum of general education teacher preparation programs in Yemeni universities to align them with emerging digital variables. Additionally, the study suggested the adoption of awareness programs highlighting the importance of employing artificial intelligence applications in the educational process.
