Manifestations of the Social Environment in the Poetic Achievement of Abulfarajii Babbghae (398 AH)

Abstract

This study explores the social environment reflected in the poetry of Babbghae, a prominent poet of the second Abbasid era, a time rich in arts and sciences that influenced poetic expression and artistic trends. Babbghae’s poetry spans various themes, showcasing the richness of his era. The research is divided into an introduction, a preface, three sections, and a conclusion. The preface provides an overview of the poet and the interplay between society and literature. The first section examines depictions of social relationships, including images of princes, women, and friends. The second section focuses on social values such as asceticism, courage, and forgiveness. The third section highlights social manifestations, including depictions of urban life and luxury. Through a social and artistic analysis of selected texts, the study demonstrates that literature not only mirrors reality but also reshapes it, drawing attention to the form and style of expression. Key findings reveal Babbghae’s remarkable ability to vividly portray and animate the tangible aspects of his era, allowing readers to experience Abbasid society. His poetry effectively captures relationships, values, and societal features with a striking style, rich language, and refined artistic elements.
