The Poet Imran bin Al-Fadl Al-Hamdani and Three of His Descendants: Aspects of Their Lives and Surviving Poems: Compilation, Verification, and Study

This research explores the surviving poetry of Imran bin Al-Fadl Al-Yami (d. 479 AH), the knight and leader of Hamdan in Yemen, along with the poetry of his son Hussein bin Imran, his grandson Nasser bin Mohammed bin Ahmad bin Imran, and his great-grandson Ahmad bin Mohammed bin Hatem Al-Hatemi. It examines the aspects of their lives through available historical sources, both manuscript and printed, using a historical and social methodology. The study presents key details of their lives in relation to their time periods, and it analyzes their poetry by documenting, verifying, and interpreting its themes and artistic content. The research highlights the noble qualities, pride, and valor that dominate their work, showcasing their mastery of classical Arabic poetic styles and eloquence. The poets’ compositions reflect their social environment and family legacy, as the study reveals that their surviving poems are free from colloquial dialect influences, focusing on high linguistic standards. The research concludes by compiling these poets into a family lineage of 13 distinguished literary knights.
