Research Trends in Arabic Language Curriculum and Teaching Methods in the Kingdom of Bahrain

This study investigates research trends in Arabic language curriculum and instructional methods within the Kingdom of Bahrain through the application of bibliometric analysis. The analysis covered a sample comprising master’s theses, doctoral dissertations, and peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2011 and 2025. The results highlight a noticeable divergence in focus: journal publications primarily addressed emerging themes such as self-regulated learning and the integration of technology, while doctoral dissertations concentrated on more traditional areas like reading comprehension and written expression. The qualitative findings further revealed the dominance of only two central themes, a concentration that risks neglecting other significant dimensions of research. The study also identified inconsistencies in the novelty and renewal of topics, with research overwhelmingly directed toward students, representing 77.7% of the total sample. In terms of educational stages, most studies were confined to primary and university levels. Additionally, the review found an absence of studies employing systematic, stratified, or cluster sampling techniques, despite their potential to enhance statistical accuracy and representativeness.
