Abstract

This study aims to investigate the manifestations of reverse intertextuality between the modern Arabic poetic text and the image of Amru Al-Qais’ night. The study took an advantage of some procedures of the semiotic and stylistic approaches, as well as, statements of the theory of intertextuality. It followed the idea of simulation and transposition at the level of words, their lexical and contextual meanings, and their roles in creating poetic structures and forming imagery. The study also tried to examine the features of juxtaposition between reverse and similar intertextuality. The study concluded that the modern poet, in this performance, was able to invest the absent text in expressing many different visions and divergent feelings.
