Abstract

This study examines the role of contemporary Saudi literature in reinforcing national identity and promoting the values of sustainable development within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030. Through an analytical reading of modern Saudi literary texts, the research explores how literature represents concepts of belonging, cultural consciousness, and national transformation. The applied dimension of the study focuses on selected examples from poetry, novels, and literary essays, alongside an examination of institutional initiatives and cultural policies associated with literary and artistic organizations in Saudi Arabia. The research is organized into three main sections addressing the relationship between literature and national identity, literature and sustainable development, and literature as an active cultural force. The findings demonstrate that Saudi literature contributes significantly to consolidating collective memory, strengthening cultural affiliation, and enhancing educational and social awareness. The study also highlights the central role of language, poetry, narrative discourse, and children’s literature in shaping cultural identity and supporting the objectives of sustainable development. Furthermore, the research emphasizes the transformation of literature into an institutional and cultural actor within the framework of the creative economy, reflecting the broader cultural and developmental aspirations embodied in Saudi Vision 2030.
