Abstract

Dr. Kawther Al-Mikhlafi Prof. Ali Saeed Al Tareq Abstract: Research Objectives: 1. Identifying the attitudes of a sample of Yemeni individuals towards the phenomenon of parents killing their children. 2. Identifying the differences in the attitudes of the sample towards the phenomenon of parents killing their children according to the variables of gender, age and education. Research sample: It consisted of (2500) individuals: (1500) males and (1000) females, selected by the simple random method from 5 governorates (Sana'a City, Sana'a Governorate, Thamar, Amran, Al Dhale'), as well as Yemeni immigrants in Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar. Research Instrument: A scale, consisting of (30) items about the attitudes towards parents killing their children, was developed and administered. Statistical Methods: A number of statistical methods were used to achieve the research objectives. Research results: 1. Yemeni individuals have negative attitudes towards the phenomenon of the parents killing their children. 2. There were no significant statistical differences in the attitudes of Yemeni individuals towards the phenomenon of parents killing their children according to the variables of gender, age and education. Recommendations and Suggestions: Based on these results, the researchers proposed a set of recommendations and suggestions, including, but not limited to, the following: I. Recommendations: 1. Enacting a law providing for the capital death of a parent who intentionally kills his child. 2. Conducting awareness-raising seminars about the importance of imposing the punishment of retribution to deter those who might plan to kill their children, and about the role of such punishment in the protection and preservation of the homicide that is forbidden by Allah. II. Suggestions: 1. Conducting studies similar to the current research with a focus on the psychological effects on the family members who lost their child killed by his father. 2. Conducting studies similar to the current research but in relation to other variables such as the geographical area, economic situation, etc.
