The Common Expressions between the Holy Quran and Southern Arabic: A Comparative study

Abstract

This research presents a study of the common words in the Holy Quran and the Southern Arabic language based on inscriptive sources found in the Southern Arabic. The study aims to relate the two branches of the Arabic language (the Northern Arabic and the Southern Arabic) in different aspects such as: determining how close or far they are and attempting to reach the accurate meaning of certain words specifically in Holy Quran and generally in Arabic language. A comparative methodology is adopted to investigate the studied words through reviewing these words in the Holy Quran with their corresponding in the Southern Arabic. In addition, their use in the dictionaries and in the modern Yemeni accents is highlighted. The study is conducted in three sections and a conclusion.
