Fields of university media research: University of Baghdad as a model

The research aims to reveal the facts and practical foundations in analyzing and studying the fields of university media research. In order to reach scientific results, and to identify the quality of the topics covered by the media research, and the variables developed by the researchers in the media research methodology, the subject of the research. The focus was on being local, Arab or international, as well as the scientific research followed. It has also focused on the explanation of the important issues that have been studied. The research also aims to document the titles of university media research that were explored in the media department, and to understanding the direction that research focused on in the disciplines of journalism, radio, television and public relations. The researcher tried to reveal the recognized patterns in the nature of university scientific research, whether at the level of methodological or formal aspects, as well as the possibility of benefiting from advance planning for the topics being discussed. The results revealed that the total of 201 media researches discussed during the study period, the largest was for male researchers in the master’s and PhD levels, amounted to 144 researchers, while the total number of female researchers reached 47 researchers. Media topics dealt with Iraqi media in various fields received the largest in master's level, with 90 research papers, as well as doctoral research that dealt with the same field, of 32 papers. In 1999, it ranked first in terms of discussing media research at the master's level. With a total of 26 research papers, the year 2000 witnessed the discussion of the largest number of media research at the PhD level, with a total of 11 papers.
