The Theme of Lost in the Novel Blind Sinbad by Buthaina Al-Essa: A Thematic Approach

This study aims to explore the theme of loss in the novel Blind Sinbad by Kuwaiti novelist Buthaina Al-Essa, and to identify its primary and secondary themes. It analyzes recurring images using a thematic approach to uncover these themes and elucidate the underlying meanings of the. The study applies Jean-Pierre Richard's methodology to the novel, starting with a close examination of its narrative and thematic content, followed by an exploration of the connections between its central and supporting themes. The research concludes that the theme of lost dominates the novel, as all characters are lost in deep darkness, unable to make any decisions. The theme of love and revenge reveals other sub-themes known as branches of secondary themes, such as care, pain, deprivation, and memories.
