Critical Rooting for the Topic of Ancient Arabic Poetry: An Inductive Study in the Code of Ancient Literary Criticism up to the Seventh Century AH

Abstract

The study talks about the origination of descriptive criticism in the history of old literary criticism of subjects or the poetic purpose, highlighting the most important poetic themes presented in the ancient Arabic literature as creative achievements and critical practices like praise, satire, lamentation, and romance, with reference to some attempts to generate and derive other poetic themes, most of which are related to some prominent themes such as pride, admonition, menace, and warning. In addition, the study sought to uncover the general theorizing features- included in the ancient literary criticism records until the seventh century B.C. – of such themes form the point of view of that old literary critic who tried hard to show their general trends and what is best to be addressed and what is not in terms of meaning in each subject with reference to some transformations within the framework of the same subject resulting from the changes in public life over time.
