This study investigated the extent to which intermediate-level Sharia studies teachers in Riyadh apply authentic teaching standards, as perceived by the teachers themselves. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, the researchers designed a questionnaire aligned with authentic teaching standards. They administered it to a sample of 100 teachers (50 male and 50 female) during the 1447 AH / 2026 CE academic year. The findings revealed that the standards of communication and cognitive dialogue, connection to real-world contexts, practice of higher-order thinking skills, and depth of knowledge were present to a moderate degree, while social learning support was rated highly. Significant differences emerged in favor of female teachers regarding higher-order thinking, communication and dialogue, real-world connections, and social support, whereas no differences were found in relation to depth of knowledge. Based on these results, the study concluded with a set of recommendations and proposals to enhance authentic teaching practices in Sharia education.Downloads
