Methodology of Teaching Arabic Literature in Western Universities: A comparative study between some Western and Arab universities

This research focuses on the methodology of teaching Arabic literature in Western universities, and provides teaching models from some of those universities, beginning with models from America, Britain, and some other European countries to clarify the reality of teaching Arabic literature in Western universities, and compare that with the reality of teaching it in Arab universities. The researcher uses on the axes of literature: constructive, content and implementation, and explains the differences Western universities use in presenting, teaching, evaluating and representing Arabic literature, as it is supposed to be presented to learners who are non-Arabic speakers. The research shows that teaching Arabic literature in Western universities gives the student more freedom to choose to study Arabic literature independently, or to study it with other literature, and it also gives him/her the opportunity to choose the texts he/she wants to study. Moreover, teaching Arabic literature in Western universities may be affected by some of the university’s orientations, or defects in the ideology of the course professor.Downloads
