Modeling the Causal Relationships between Research Self-efficacy and Meta-motivation among Graduate Students at Qassim University

This study examined the levels of research self-efficacy and meta-motivation among graduate students at Qassim University, as well as the relationship and causal links between them. Using a custom Research Self-Effectiveness Scale and Samawi’s (2011) Meta-Motivation Scale, data were collected from 114 students selected through convenience sampling. Findings revealed high levels of research self-efficacy and very high meta-motivation, with no significant differences based on college, major, gender, or program. A strong positive correlation (r = 0.582, p < 0.51) was found between the two variables, indicating that meta-motivation significantly influences research self-efficacy, accounting for 31.7% of its variance. The study concluded with recommendations to enhance both traits through targeted strategies
