Portrayal of Men in Jaheer Al-Masaad's Writings: A Study on Satire and Irony

This research aims to display how Saudi writer Jaheer Al-Masaad represents men in her works, identifying the elements that should be identified and clarified. Accordingly, it also provides a comprehensive and clear overview of this portrayal. The research concerns a genuine phenomenon in her writings: the use of satire and irony, as well as the insights and ideas that are derived from such techniques, such as contradictions and differences. The research analyzes these elements using a thematic approach by revealing hidden values within the texts. The research paper is divided into an introduction and two sections. The first section addresses the writer's experience and relevance to the research's title, while the second examines the methods of satire and irony, which are considered key features of her style. The research concludes that the texts employ a form of writing that subtly critiques men, closely resembling the technique of "condemnation disguised as praise." Al-Masaad exaggerates the glorification of men to such an extent that it evokes suspicion and prompts thoughtful consideration from the discerning reader. The study also highlights several elements of satire and irony, such as collective satire and formal aspects, among others.
