Abstract

This study aims to design an interactive educational program grounded in individual activities to promote awareness among general education students (primary: grades 4–6; preparatory: grades 1–3; secondary: grade 1) regarding water security issues - namely water conservation, Nile pollution, and the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) - in public schools across five governorates (Cairo, Giza, Minya, Assiut, and Dakahlia). The sample comprised 180 experts (150 for questionnaires and 30 for interviews). The tools employed included Likert-scale questionnaires (1–5), interviews, and the “Water Guardian” application. A mixed-methods approach was adopted, utilizing SPSS, Excel, and NVivo, along with thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006). The program includes 17 units (totaling 29.75 hours: primary 8.33, preparatory 11.67, and secondary 9.75), showcasing 17 individual activities, 8 assessment methods, and 7 instructional strategies. Evaluation by nine experts indicated high levels of agreement (88–98%) on activities such as diagramming (85%) and interactive storytelling (83%), despite challenges related to overcrowded classrooms (40–60 students) and weak infrastructure (6.6%). Recommendations emphasize  teacher training, curriculum integration, and administrative support.
