The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the behavioral activation-based therapeutic intervention in treating depression in adolescents through an experimental case study involving a teenager. The study adopted a case study approach involving a teenager suffering from severe depression, and began by identifying and formulating the case issues. The adolescent was a college student at the age of 22. The Behavioral Activation Scale (Kanter, 2007, 2009) (Translated by Megawer, in press), the Beck Depression Inventory-II (Ghareeb, 2000), and the Clinical Anxiety and Depression Scale (Terkawi, et al., 2017) were applied to the case. These scales were repeated at various stages (pre, post, follow-up 1, and follow-up 2). The study results revealed that the improvement rates in the experimental case were significantly high which led to reducing depression symptoms after the implementation of the therapeutic program and at the end of follow-up period. The therapeutic intervention also had significant positive effects on the development of behavioral activation levels in the experimental case after the implementation of the therapeutic program and at the end of the follow-up period. This suggests that the behavioral activation had an effect on reducing symptoms of depression in adolescents.
