Abstract

This study aims to examine the psychometric properties of a questionnaire designed to measure students’ perceptions of the clinical curricula at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences and the College of Nursing at Hadhramout University using the Partial Credit Model (PCM). It also sought to investigate Differential Item Functioning (DIF) with respect to gender and college. A descriptive-analytical research design was employed. The questionnaire initially comprised 24 items distributed across five dimensions and was administered to a main sample of 331 students, including 175 males and 156 females, of whom 179 were enrolled in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences and 152 in the College of Nursing. Participants were selected using stratified random sampling. The findings indicated that the assumptions of the Partial Credit Model were satisfied and that the questionnaire items demonstrated good model fit, with the exception of two items that were removed due to misfit, resulting in a final 22-item questionnaire. The Test Information Function indicated a high level of measurement precision, with an estimated marginal reliability coefficient of approximately 0.96. Regarding differential item functioning, four items exhibited DIF by gender, whereas no item demonstrated DIF by college, based on the adopted effect-size criterion.
