Social Responsibility and Its Relationship to Decision-Making among Faculty Members at King Saud University

The present study aimed to examine the relationship between social responsibility and decision-making among faculty members at King Saud University, as well as to identify differences in both social responsibility and decision-making according to the variables of gender and years of experience. The descriptive method - correlational and comparative -was employed. A stratified random sample of 363 faculty members was selected from various health, scientific, and humanities colleges, including 211 males and 152 females. The Social Responsibility Scale and the Decision-Making Scale (developed by the researcher) were used. The findings revealed a statistically significant positive relationship between the total score on the Social Responsibility Scale and the total score on the Decision-Making Scale, as well as all its sub-dimensions. The coefficient of determination between the two total scales was 0.60, and between the subdimensions of both scales ranged from 0.31 to 0.53, all of which represent strong effect sizes according to Cohen’s criteria. The results also showed statistically significant differences in social responsibility and decision-making attributable to gender in favor of males, whereas no statistically significant differences were found in either scale according to years of experience.
