Reality of School Bag Weight Reduction Implementing Measures for Grades (1-4) in Basic Education from the Perspectives of Educators and Parents: A Field Study at Muzoon Al-Ilm School in South Al Batinah Governorate

This study aimed to explore the reality of implementing measures to reduce the weight of school bags in basic education schools for grades (1-4) in South Al Batinah Governorate. The descriptive approach was employed. The sample consisted of 278 teaching staff members and parents of students at Muzoon Al-Ilm School. For the study purposes, a questionnaire comprising 22 items was used. Key findings showed that the implementation of measures to reduce the weight of school bags at Muzoon Al-Ilm School for basic education in South Al Batinah Governorate was high as perceived by the sample. The domain of ‘awareness and education by the school administration’ ranked first at a very high score of agreement, while the domain of ‘follow-up by the school" ranked last with a high level of agreement. There were no statistically significant differences in the sample’s responses regarding the implementation of measures to reduce school bag weight based on gender. However, statistically significant differences were found based on job title, in favor of teaching staff members.
