Editorial Independence and Endogeny Monitoring Procedure

TUJNAS monitors the proportion of research articles authored by current editors and Editorial Board members to protect editorial independence.

 

Calculation

After each issue, the Managing Editor compares every research-article author with the current editorial and reviewer lists, including spelling, initials, transliteration, ORCID and affiliation variants. The numerator is the number of research articles with at least one author who is a current editor or board member. The denominator is the total number of research articles in that issue. The percentage is calculated separately for each of the latest two issues.

 

Limit and response

The percentage must not exceed 25% in either of the latest two issues. If the rate approaches the limit, TUJNAS must limit further endogenous contributions, broaden calls for external submissions, and document corrective action. The calculation does not replace independent review and recusal requirements.

 

Records

TUJNAS retains the issue list, normalized names, match evidence, numerator, denominator, exclusions, independent-handling records and final approval. The Editor-in-Chief reviews the register, but a conflicted editor must not approve their own record.
